Yesterday afternoon, Barbara and I went to the nail salon. And yes, this one is a salon. This is something we started about a year ago.

Now, I’m a man’s man; but normally on the last Saturday of the month, together — as a couple — we would go get our toes done. No, I don’t let them paint mine, well not yet, anyway.

Due to the shutdown, it’s been more than two months. It’s about time.

Sitting in the Massage chair, feet in very hot water waiting my turn, what a comforting, satisfying feeling — a pleasure in itself.

Then comes the action:

Left foot — toes trimmed, scrubbing solution applied, trim some more.

Then right foot — toes trimmed, scrubbing solution applied, trim some more. Each time the unattended foot placed back in the hot water — a pleasure.

Now left foot again, this time to “sand” the rough spots and apply a different solution (tickles a little). Then the right foot, same process — a pleasure.

And it continues until the pedicurist is satisfied she has it right.

Then the foot and calf massage!

Soothing lotion, fingers gently soothing sore aching calf muscles — a pleasure.

Rinse and once more to trim the cuticles and apply still another solution — a pleasure.

Then a wet, hot towel applied to each foot and calf, drawing the last bit of tension away — a pleasure.

A quick dry and she looks up and says “You’re done.” You smile back and happily say “Thank you”.

Pedicure completed, a wave to all, then out to the car to wait for Barbara as she has one more luxury to go. Painting her toe nails and waiting for them to dry.

A husband and wife experience outside the home like no other. It’s called manscaping I guess … anyway, a full-on massage might be next.

Just Pondering…
